WinStick Shareware Demo 08/10/94
WinStick allows you to use a joystick when playing Windows games. The joystick simulates
keyboard input so any games that can be controlled via the keyboard can now be controlled
via the joystick. This shareware demo is fully functional. To use WinStick you need to:
Uncompress WINSTICK.ZIP which you've already done. The following files should be present:
WINSTICK.EXE
JOYHNDLR.DLL
CTL3DV2.DLL
WINSTICK.HLP
README.TXT
FILE_ID.DIZ
Now copy all files, except CTL3DV2.DLL into a directory called WinStick. CTL3DV2.DLL must
be placed in your WINDOWS/SYSTEM folder if it's not already there. CTL3DV2.DLL can not be
in both the WINSTICK directory and the WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory and as many other programs
use this file it is best to have it in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory.
Now go the the Program Manager and create an Item in a Program Manager Group for the
WINSTICK.EXE program. A joystick icon will appear. Double-click on this icon to run
WinStick. Be sure you have a joystick plugged into your game port (or game port #0 if you
have 2). WinStick will then ask you to calibrate your joystick. Follow the instructions.
Once this is done WinStick will minimize itself and the joystick will emulate the up, down,
left, and right keys on the keyboard along with button a emulating the spacebar. Most games
should work with this layout.
...and, as always, if you find this program useful please register with us. Complete
on-line help is available once you complete the above steps and get WinStick up and running.
- Thanks, Alan
P.S. Companies that wish to include this release of WinStick in their shareware catalog are
welcome to do so provide that all files remain intact and unmodified and no more than a $3.00
service charge is made to the customer. No written approval is necessary from us, however, we
would appreciate a catalog, copy of the CD, or whatever this appears in. For example, if you
include WinStick on the cover disk of your magazine please send us a copy of the magazine it
appears with. That's all we ask...
